Camp Letter Writing 101
We are so excited you have decided to send your child(ren) to camp with us. We assure you, we will do everything in our power to make camp a fun and memorable experience. One of those experiences is receiving letters from home! We have a few suggestions when sending letters to your camper to help keep home sick hearts to a minimum.
- Do: Tell them you hope they are having a great time.
- Don’t: Tell them how SAD you are without them there. You don’t want your camper to feel guilty for having a good time!
- Do: Tell them you are looking forward to them coming home and hearing all of the stories they have to tell from camp.
- Don’t Send Packages. This is a rule we have established to keep other campers from being sad that they didn’t get a package. We will hold any packages sent till after camp.
- Do: Mail early! Send letters by Tuesday/Wednesday to arrive by Wednesday/Thursday. Your counselor will collect a letter prior to leaving for camp to hand out on Tuesday.
- Do: Send self addressed stamped envelopes with your camper to make letter writing easy.
- Do: Give camp address to other friends or family members, so they can send letters too!
Thanks for you help and we look forward to camp!
